Staffordshire County Minor Sunday Youth League
Longton Trophy Premier Division
The young Badgers were out of the blocks fast in this Premier league encounter. Some entertaining football was played and several chances went begging. Longton started to compete around the half hour mark and had some ½ chances before on 40 mins the influential Jamie Evans danced past the Longton left and crossed for Captain Jack Warren to rifle in from 6yds.
After half time Brocton upped the pace again and were attacking at will. However, they were caught out on a counter attack with a long ball to be pegged back to 1 – 1. A neat move 5 mins later with Warren advancing on the back four, saw Warren slip Josh Saunders through and fire home from a tight angle on the left. A few mins later with Brocton attempting a killer third, Longton again launched a long ball to win a corner. Brocton conceded a sloppy goal from the corner with no challenge coming in. The Badgers Youth team hit back a few mins later with Warren and Saunders playing in Jack Hall who slipped the keeper. Hall had another attempt when one on one and a fine save from the keeper denied him. A quick counter attack on 80 mins saw MOM Warren spread the ball wide to Christian Darby who shot from a wide angle and the keeper parried the ball out, and Taylor Ellis followed up for a tap in. The next game is against Audley Youth – Away Sun 1st Nov KO 2pm
